Enough is enough. In response to the ongoing global racial injustice, and in partnership with the Modern Day Mullatos & FMB Radio, we have started a weekly podcast series to educate, inform, spread awareness, open up discussions, and stimulate change.
Modern Day Mullatos are a group of 4 diverse mixed race young adults from across the UK, discussing racial and social issues, intersectionalities, and progressive politics.
MDM is comprised of Musician, Sociology Undergraduate and Digital Storyteller Jaya Gordon-Moore (@JayaHadADream), Musician and Performer JJ Gibson (@Majay), Politics and International Relations Undergraduate Tia Chapman (@Tia_Chapman_), and Musician and Knife Crime Prevention Representative Kofi Taylor (@Drskxl).
The name Moden Day Mullatos is a modern twist on the offensive noun ‘mulatto’ meaning a person of mixed white and black ancestry, especially a person with one white and one black parent. We changed the spelling to reclaim and redefine the word for our own.
Take a watch, reflect, and inform.
Our first episode released on 5th June 2020 , the Modern Day Mullatos discuss police brutality, everyday racism, the mixed race experience, and what we can and need to do individually and structurally to tackle racism.
In the second episode, they discuss reverse racism, why its a myth, White Chicks vs Little Britain, and black representation.
Please fill in this form, give us feedback, and let us know if there is anything you would like us to discuss in the future.
